Welcome to the web-site of the plastic surgeon Sergio Capurro www.capurroplasticsurgery.eu. This web-site has been created in order to publicise the new possibilities of operating in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery.  Sergio Capurro was born in 1948. After graduating with distinction (110/110 magna cum laude) in medicine and surgery at the University of Genoa, he specialised in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Milan. Dr. Capurro heads a research group Capurro Research Group (CRG) which studies new surgical procedures in the field of plastic, aesthetic and dermatological surgery, new drugs and innovative solutions to patients’ hitherto unresolved problems. He is an Ordinary Member of the Società Italiana di Chirurgia Plastica Ricostruttiva ed Estetica and the Società Italiana di FleboLinfologia, President of the International Society of Timedsurgery™ and a director of the Plastic Surgery Division at San Martino Hospital in Genoa. He is the author of several books and scientific publications and holds national and international patents in the fields of surgery and medicine. The son of the first woman aesthetic surgeon in Italy, Dr. Capurro has over 30 years of experience in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. His experience in the operating theatre enables him to select the surgical procedure that is most appropriate for the patient and the least invasive. He is an expert in all plastic and aesthetic surgical operations on the face and body and in the procedures of dermatological surgery. His father, Stelio Capurro, founded the Institute of Normal Histology and Embryology in Genoa. Dr. Capurro is a professor at the most prestigious schools of Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine in Italy, where he teaches the innovative techniques that he has designed. These include: elasticum® face-lifting, which physiologically restores a youthful appearance to the face “without blunt dissection of the tissues” by means of the innovative Elasticum® suturing technique (two-tipped atraumatic surgical needle, the Jano needle®, and Elasticum® thread). Face-lifting carried out with this new method does not require hospitalisation or visible medication. The Jano needle is also used in plastic surgery procedures to ameliorate large scars caused by burns or traumas and to avoid the diastasis of the surgical sutures under tension. Another of Dr. Capurro’s innovative techniques is adipofilling®. This is a useful complement to face-lifting, as it enables facial volume to be restored and the skin to be rejuvenated. Adipofilling® is able to augment the subcutaneous tissues and the lips in a natural, safe and permanent manner. It can be used to correct asymmetries, enhance the breasts and buttocks and improve scars, including those resulting from acne. Dr. Capurro’s research has led to the development of Three-dimensional Regenerative Ambulatory Phlebotherapy, which has revolutionised the treatment of venous insufficiency of the lower limbs, and to the invention of the Timed® apparatus. This latter has revolutionised electrosurgery by creating Timedsurgery™, the most versatile and efficacious physical technique in the field of dermatological, plastic and aesthetic surgery. The innovative procedures enabled by Timedsurgery™, include mixed peeling to eliminate lip wrinkles, the repigmentation of stable vitiligo, the cleansing of cutaneous ulcers, the treatment of facial telangiectatic naevi or plane angiomas, the elimination of tattoos by means of Timedsurgical resurfacing, the elimination of patches on the skin, and rapid and slow pulsed timed® Timedsurgical cutting, which is used in the most delicate operations, such as transconjunctival and upper blepharoplasty and the excision of neoformations from the rim of the eyelid, face, body etc. Dr. Capurro has developed more than 40 innovative surgical techniques, new surgical instruments, drugs, phytochemical products and, recently, a simple method of reducing bleeding during surgery and minimising post-operative ecchymoses. |
